Tardan mucho en ponerte para un examen teórico y diciendo que lo podrás hacer en diciembre, pero en los últimos días resulta que surgen problemas te dicen que no, que al final lo tendrás en enero, por razones desconocidas.
Proceed with CAUTION!nnI am a 55-year-old male with 40 years of driving experience and an American driver's license. I recently obtained dual citizenship and have lived in Spain for two years. I've driven in six countries, including the US and Spain. During many family visits, I’ve driven extensively across Spain and in cities like Barcelona, Madrid, and Murcia, as well as Gibraltar, always starting or ending in Chipiona. I’m familiar with the differences between driving in Spain and the US. I am not new to driving in Spain.nnI chose to take the driving test in English, my native language, since my Spanish comprehension is about 75%. I communicate effectively when spoken to clearly and slowly, but I do sometimes struggle with the Andalusian accent.nnMy review of Autoescuela Paco is divided into three sections based on my experience. It is not based on language defects, as 99% of my communication with the school was in Spanish. I am writing this review in English because it is my native language, and I communicate more effectively in it.nnThe School - The Driver Manual is written in British English, which required some decoding as there is a difference in verbiage between British English and American English. The main issue was with the school’s computer study exams and a significant mistake by the instructor/owner. I pointed out that the translations and wording were often terrible, but was met with an “it is what it is” response. For example, the word ‘forks’ appeared in multiple-choice answers with no reference in the book. When I asked the owner, she said it was just a “random word used as a filler.” When I questioned why it was marked correct, she responded, “Because the other two options are wrong.” This was incorrect and costly advice. I later learned from a cousin that ‘forks’ was a poor translation of ‘bifurcación’ or in English, ‘bifurcation’.nnThe school study exams were overwhelming, and I often missed 10-14 questions out of 30. I switched to a format of cross referencing the manual, and solely using the DGT website practice tests. I found I was only missing 2-3 questions at worst. The school’s software and the owner's guidance in English are deeply flawed, but they clearly don’t care, as shown by their dismissive attitude.nnDriver Practice - My main issue here was the reckless behavior of the instructor, Juan. During a roundabout exercise, I missed the third exit and took the fourth. Instead of explaining my mistake and guiding me safely, he grabbed the wheel and forcing us back into the roundabout, a dangerous maneuver that could have caused a loss of control.nnLater, while entering the highway cautiously at this point because my mind is still processing what just happened, he decided I wasn’t going fast enough and took control of the gas pedal, forcing me to use quick action and maneuver into the left lane to avoid hitting the guardrail. His reckless interference put us at serious risk. When I reported these incidents to the school, they excused his actions, claiming “I’m sure he knew it was safe”. This response was unacceptable and, in my opinion, a clear violation of proper teaching and safety standards.nnI should also mention that that same vehicle was later involved in a student accident under his guidance.nnDrivers Exam - Something to keep in mind when choosing this school is that during the actual drivers exam the examiner sits in the passenger side back seat. Their view is obstructed by the large headrest, and the driving instructor. So be weary of that and don’t be afraid to ask to see the vehicle you will be taking the exam in. Sit in the passengers back seat and decide for yourself if you are ok with that being your examiners field of vision. Also keep in mind that the school's instructor and the examiner talk.nnI chose this school based on the convenience of location. It was a mistake. Two separate drivers exams, 14 students total, only 3 passed. Those are terrible numbers that come at a high cost pushing people to keep giving them money. The only redeeming quality about this school is Rosa.
